The relationship between fashion seen on the catwalk and interior trends continues in full force.

Matthew Williamson A/W 12/13

Metallics were the most popular trend among the various collections at London Fashion Week earlier this year – think David Koma and Matthew Williamson Autumn/Winter Collections for 2012.

And this trend is being replicated in our interiors via fabrics, wall & ceiling finishes, decorative accessories…You only need to flick through this month’s issues of Elle Decoration or Livingetc for some iridescent inspiration!

Metallic melange…

Here are just a few of the ways you can introduce some metallic luxe to your interior…

Copper cladding

Luxe metallics

Metallic finishes provide a glamorous and refined effect in both fashion and interiors.

As well as the more obvious gold, silver and copper, consider pewter and bronze, both of which are more muted and subtle.

Not a one-season wonder

If you were worried about buying into the metallics ‘trend’, fear not, this is not a one-season wonder! Metallics have been used in the home since time immemorial.

In fact, the beauty of metallics is that, whilst they may be very much on-trend for AW 12/13, they possess a timeless quality so they will never become out-moded and are easily incorporated into both contemporary and traditional schemes.

Of course, you don’t have to copper clad your whole living area…why not try a metallic mirror instead?
