If Pantone Colour of the Year 2020 is anything to go by, you can expect to see a lot of blue this year.

Pantone has chosen it’s 19-4052 Classic Blue as Colour of the Year.

They have opted for a hue to instill calm and confidence. Describing it as a colour evocative of the sky at dusk.

“It’s a color that anticipates what’s going to happen next,” said Laurie Pressman, the vice president of the Pantone Colour Institute in the US, which selected the Pantone Colour of the Year 2020. “What’s the future going to bring as we move into the evening hours?”

Pressman recommends Classic Blue accent pieces such as a vase or candle,  or perhaps even a mirror, for your home.

Here’s our large Lucca mirror (105cm dia.) featured in a scheme completed by Slightly Quirky Limited, a London-based interior design firm.

For this mirror, we used a combination of our Blue-Black paint with brass leaf beading which makes for a strikingly handsome finish. Complimented wonderfully by the velvet blue sofa and other blue accent-colours in the rest of the room (which you can see in the convex reflection).

Blue is a tried and tested colour when it comes to interiors. Whether we’re plastering it all over our walls or using it in small doses with accessories and soft furnishings, blue – a versatile hue of many shades and depths – continues to be one of the most popular colours in the decorator’s palette.
